What are corns?
Corns are thickened areas of skin that form on the top of your toes to protect them from friction or pressure. However, they can get pretty painful and a little ugly. A lot of people think the best solution is just to cut them out, but here at Foot First, we do things differently.
What makes Foot First’s approach to treating corns unique compared to other doctor’s offices?
Instead of just cutting out the corn and leaving a scar, we focus on the root cause. Often, there’s a hammertoe or a small bone spur pushing up and creating that pressure. We correct that underlying issue so you get relief without trading your corn for a scar.
Does the corn just go away?
Actually, yes! Over time - usually about six months to a year - the skin remodels itself. Since that underlying problem has been fixed, the corn won’t come back and the new skin looks like it was never there to begin with.
A minimally invasive, hidden-incision approach.
Just like our innovative bunion surgery - the Sklar Bunionectomy - and our toe shortening procedures, our corn removal treatment is minimally invasive, allows for immediate weight bearing, and prioritizes the natural beauty and function of your foot. We place incisions in hidden areas to ensure no visible scars, while addressing the true cause of painful corns for a permanent, long-lasting solution.
